Troops of 121 Task Force Battalion, Nigerian Army have launched vocational training/skills acquisition programmes for widows and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) seeking refuge in Pulka, Borno State.
The programme which was flagged off by the Commander, 26 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General Adeyinka Laguda featured tailoring, soap making, poultry and fish farming, amongst others.
The aim of the scheme was to cushion the devastating effects of Boko Haram terrorists’ activities on the lives of the beneficiaries and economy of Pulka, Borno State in order to improve the living standard of the people.
The Commander also used the opportunity to commission a new Medical Centre established in Pulka by the unit in collaboration with UNICEF. The event witnessed a large turnout of people including dignitaries from Borno state government.
So far, 225 persons have registered for the skills acquisition programme as follows; Tailoring 25, Pomade making 50, Washing Soap making 48, Liquid Soap making 32, Poultry 8, Izal Fish farming 27 and Insecticide Making 35 students.
