The Executive Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Borno State Chapter led by the state Chairman, Comrade Dauda Iliya, on Tuesday 1 November, 2022, visited the Theatre Commander Joint Task Force (JTF) North East (NE) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Christopher Musa at the Command’s Headquarters in Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.
According to Comrade Dauda Iliya, the main purpose of the visit was to introduce the newly inaugurated Members of the Executive Council to the Theatre Commander OPHK, having been sworned in for a tenure of three years.
During the interactive session, the Chairman applauded the Theatre Commander and his troops for their resilience and act of gallantry in stabilizing the North East Region of Nigeria, adding that the successes recorded by OPHK is the first of its kind in the fight against insurgency within the sub African region, considering the large number of the surrendered terrorists.
In his remarks, the Theatre Commander, on behalf of his Officers and Men congratulated the NUJ Chairman and his EXCOs on their recent inauguration. Equally, he commended the Union for their patriotic reportage in the fight against the insurgents, stating that “no one can share or tell the story better than you people who have been here since the inception of the crisis”. The Theatre Commander also appreciated them for their commitment in always providing Nigerians and the world with informations on what is happening here in the North Eastern Nigeria.
While assuring the Union of his unflinching mutual working relationship, the Theatre Commander charged them to Join the Command in carrying out an awareness campaign using their reputable medium to urge terrorists who are willing to surrender to do so while they still can or meet their doom in no time.
Present during the visit were the Deputy Theatre Commander OPHK Major General MS Ahmed, component Commanders OPHK and Principal Staff Officers of Headquarters Theatre Command.
