NAOWA ENROLLS WIDOWS FOR SKILLS ACQUISITION

The Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) has concluded arrangements to offer free skills acquisition training for spouses of fallen heroes who lost their lives in the North East to enable them become self-reliant. This was made known by the National President  Mrs Umma-Kalsum Tukur Buratai  while delivering her keynote address during a charity Programme organized for spouses of fallen heroes  in Abuja  and Keffi.

Mrs Buratai called on the widows to enroll for free skills Acquisition in NAOWA Vocational Centres spread across the country, nothing that empowering the widows will go a long way in empowering them to take care of the children.

She recalled that wherever there are crisis, women and children are mostly effected, adding that fight against insurgency in the North east has caused the loss of many lives, leaving women and children without breadwinners.

The NAOWA Boss noted that charity programmes of this nature will once more put smiles on the faces of the widows who have lost their loved ones revealing that NAOWA will continue to identify with them.  She called on well- meaning Nigerians and Corporate Bodies to come to the plight of the widows to enable them survive the challenges of life in society.

Speaking earlier, the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion, wife of Kogi State Governor, Hajiya Rashidat Bello promised the widows that Kogi state will continue to reach out to survivors of fallen heroes. “Your husbands have paid the supreme sacrifice for this country to live in peace, we will not abandon you, we will continue to reach out to you because we have you at heart” she noted. Items donated include clothing materials, food items and beverages. Not less than 180 `1q2benefited from the charity programme.
